Overview
Our client, a logistics and transport operator with operations across Africa, is looking for a Safety Coordinator based at its Head Office in Woodmead. You will coordinate and drive Health & Safety across the organisation, directly manage two Regional Safety Analysts (with indirect oversight of 12 Safety Analysts across Africa), and report Safety performance, risks and action plans to the Group Safety Head and Africa Operations Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily routines, priorities and performance of two Regional Safety Analysts; coach and support them in critical situations and investigations
- Consolidate Safety KPIs across all operations (accidents, incidents, near misses, unsafe behaviours, audits, training, telematics) and prepare weekly and monthly reports and dashboards
- Account for Safety results to senior management, explain deviations and present recovery plans
- Prepare operations for client Safety audits (including DPO and VOP) and drive non-conformances and action plans to closure
- Coordinate Health & Safety policies, SOPs, risk assessments and legal compliance across sites
- Coordinate incident reporting and guide effective investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Coordinate Safety training, licences and competency compliance, and run Safety campaigns
- Conduct site visits and inspections, and act as a strategic Safety partner to Operations
- Drive continuous improvement and a proactive Safety culture
Minimum Requirements
- Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety / Health & Safety / HSE
- 3 to 5 years’ Health & Safety experience, preferably in logistics, transport, industrial, mining, manufacturing or another high-risk environment
- Experience supporting multiple sites or operations (advantageous)
- Good knowledge of South African Health & Safety legislation
- Incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Audits, inspections, risk assessments and Safety training
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel; Power BI or similar (advantageous)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel when required
