What This Role Covers
SHEQ Managers are typically responsible for:
- Occupational Health and Safety Act compliance and legal appointments
- Risk assessments, incident investigation and reporting
- Safety, environmental and quality management systems (for example ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001)
- Audits, inspections and contractor safety
- Training, safety culture and behaviour
- Reporting to management and regulators
What We Assess
We assess the risk profile of environments previously managed, measurable safety improvements, system implementation and certification experience, audit results, SACPCMP registration or relevant qualifications where required, and the ability to influence line managers and frontline teams.
SHEQ Salary Benchmarks
Our Manufacturing Salary Guide 2026 puts experienced SHEQ Managers at roughly R62k–R85k per month CTC, senior managers at R85k–R115k+, and experienced SHE officers at around R30k–R42k. Construction, mining and high-risk sites often pay more.
