Project Engineer

A Project Engineer delivers capital projects from approval to handover: new production lines, plant upgrades, infrastructure and equipment installations. They manage scope, budget, schedule, safety and contractors so the project is completed on time and works as intended.

What the role involves

• Defining scope, budget and schedule, and writing business cases
• Specifications, tenders and contractor and vendor selection
• Managing contractors on site, including construction safety compliance
• Progress, cost and risk reporting
• Commissioning, handover to operations and close-out

What makes a strong candidate

We look for an engineering degree relevant to the project scope, a track record of delivering projects of similar size and complexity, contractor management experience, and confidence with MS Project or similar tools. A project management qualification (such as PMP) or Pr.Eng is an advantage.

Red flags we screen for

• Involvement in projects but no ownership of budget or schedule
• Cannot give project values or outcomes
• Design-office experience only, for a site delivery role
