What This Role Covers
Draughtspeople and detailers are typically responsible for:
- General arrangement, fabrication and shop drawings
- Structural steel, cladding, curtain walling and louvre detailing
- Mechanical and piping drawings
- Drawing registers, revisions and document control
- Working with engineers, fabricators and site teams
- 3D modelling and bills of materials
What We Assess
We assess the drawing types and industries a candidate has worked in, software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Tekla or Revit, accuracy and speed, experience with fabrication and site requirements, and years of relevant experience.

Our 2026 South African Engineering Salary Guide puts experienced structural detailers and draughtspeople at roughly R32k–R48k per month CTC and senior draughtspeople at R48k–R70k+.
