A Chief Financial Officer leads the finance function of a manufacturing or industrial group and is a key partner to the CEO and board. Beyond reporting, the CFO shapes strategy, funding, capital allocation and risk.
What the role involves
- Group financial strategy, budgeting and forecasting
- Funding, banking relationships and, where relevant, investors
- Board and audit committee reporting, governance and tax
- Capital allocation, acquisitions and major investment decisions
- Leading financial directors, controllers and finance teams
What boards look for
Usually a CA(SA), with experience as a group CFO or divisional Financial Director, strong board engagement, and exposure to funding or capital markets. In manufacturing, a solid grasp of costing, working capital and capex is essential.
