Supply Chain Manager
6-9 years · R700k - R900k p.a. (indicative market range)
A Supply Chain Manager makes sure the right materials and products are in the right place at the right time and cost. In a manufacturing business they own end-to-end planning, from demand forecasts and production plans through procurement coordination, inventory and outbound logistics.
What the role involves
- Demand planning and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)
- Production and materials planning, and inventory targets
- Working with procurement on supplier performance, lead times and cost
- Overseeing warehousing, distribution and transport (in-house or 3PL)
- Import and export coordination, and supply risk management
- Leading planners, buyers and logistics staff
What makes a strong candidate
We look for a supply chain or logistics degree (or equivalent experience), hands-on S&OP and ERP planning experience (SAP, Syspro or similar), proven supplier negotiation, and measurable results such as better stock turns, service levels or lower freight cost.
Red flags we screen for
- Experience limited to one part of the chain (only buying, or only warehousing)
- No figures for inventory or service-level improvements
- Weak ERP planning skills for the level
