Financial Manager

A Financial Manager owns the finance function for a manufacturing site, business unit or mid-sized company. They lead a small finance team, make sure the books, reporting and controls are sound, and give management the numbers it needs to run the business.

What the role involves

• Month-end and year-end close, management accounts and reporting
• Budgets, forecasts and cash-flow management
• Leading financial accountants, cost accountants, creditors and debtors staff
• Audit, VAT, tax and statutory compliance
• Internal controls, stock controls and costing oversight
• Banking relationships and working-capital management

What makes a strong candidate

We look for a BCom Accounting with a professional qualification (CA(SA), CIMA or SAIPA) an advantage, experience owning the full finance function, team leadership, and a practical understanding of manufacturing costing and stock. Clean audits and reliable reporting are essential.

Red flags we screen for

• Experience limited to one area, such as only financial accounting
• No direct team-management experience
• No ownership of budgets or cash flow
