Location: West Rand (Krugersdorp area), Gauteng
Employment Type: Permanent
Salary: Market-related, depending on experience
Overview
Our client, an established food manufacturer on the West Rand, is looking for a hands-on Security and Plant Control Supervisor. You will take full ownership of site security and, at the same time, enforce factory rules on the production floor. This is not a desk role: you will be on site, visible, and confident to hold people to standards.
Key Responsibilities
Security
- Single point of contact for the contracted security company, including performance, rostering and escalation
- Day-to-day control of CCTV, electric fencing, alarms and access control
- Opening, locking and closing the site, and accountability for keys and after-hours access
- Overall responsibility for the protection of people, product, equipment and premises
Plant control and discipline
- Regular rounds through production, warehouse and yard
- Checking that staff are in the correct uniform and area, and that site rules (including cell phone rules) are followed
- Checking housekeeping standards: pallets in the correct place, walkways clear, nothing left lying around
- Enforcing company rules and issuing verbal and written warnings in line with the disciplinary process
- Reporting repeat issues and anything affecting food safety, safety or security to management the same day
Minimum Requirements
- Valid PSIRA registration (Grade B or higher preferred) and a clear criminal record
- At least 5 years in industrial or manufacturing security, including managing a guarding contractor and electronic systems (CCTV, electric fencing, alarms)
- Practical experience walking a plant and enforcing rules – warehouse, food or FMCG environment preferred
- Confident issuing warnings, writing short incident and warning reports, and dealing with supervisors without creating conflict
- Available for early starts, late lock-up and call-outs
- Valid driver’s licence
- Food-factory awareness (hygiene, restricted areas, no loose items in production) is an advantage; FSSC 22000 exposure is useful but not essential
Please note: we are looking for candidates who have done both sides of this job – security and plant-floor control. Pure guarding or corporate risk management backgrounds will not be considered.
