Field Sales Representative

Location: Johannesburg (field-based; territory includes Steelpoort, Rustenburg and Polokwane)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time

Overview

Our client, a specialist engineering company, is looking for a Field Sales Representative to actively develop business within an assigned territory, using proven sales techniques and building long-term customer relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify new business opportunities and evaluate sales prospects
• Develop high-value, trusted relationships with customers
• Arrange and attend customer appointments to promote the company’s products
• Prepare and manage a sales budget; track and report on KPI targets and pipeline
• Deliver sales presentations and contribute to monthly sales meetings
• Negotiate with decision-makers to grow business within customer organisations
• Monitor industry and competitor trends
• Represent the company at exhibitions and industry events

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of Maths, English and Science at school level
• Valid South African driver’s licence
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an external sales environment
• Experience in multi-product / complex solution selling
• Sales pipeline management and commercial awareness
• Willingness to travel and, at times, stay away from home in the assigned territory

Preferred

• Degree or equivalent, preferably engineering/technical
• Knowledge of engineering terminology, engineering drawings, or sealing technology
• CRM experience
