Chartered Accountant – CA(SA)

Location: Aspen Lakes, Johannesburg | Salary: R60 000 – R65 000 per month | Permanent

Overview

The organisation is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) to provide high-level financial oversight, reporting, compliance and financial management support. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, strengthening financial controls, overseeing statutory and tax compliance, producing meaningful management information and supporting management with financial analysis and business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Management Accounts

  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of financial information.
  • Review bank, customer, supplier and stock reconciliations.
  • Maintain oversight of the fixed asset register.
  • Analyse financial performance, variances, margins and profitability.
  • Prepare financial information and reports for management decision-making.
  • Ensure appropriate month-end and year-end financial close processes.

Financial Control & Governance

  • Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls.
  • Identify financial and operational risks and recommend corrective action.
  • Ensure accounting policies and procedures are appropriately implemented.
  • Maintain high standards of financial governance, accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Ensure accounting practices comply with applicable professional standards and ethics.

Tax & Statutory Compliance

  • Oversee and/or prepare statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE and UIF.
  • Ensure statutory submissions and payments are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Apply appropriate VAT treatment, including zero-rated and exempt transactions.
  • Support provisional tax calculations and other applicable taxation requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of customs VAT methods, bad and doubtful debts, deferred tax and relevant tax rates.
  • Liaise with auditors, SARS and other relevant external stakeholders where required.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis

  • Assist with annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyse financial trends and provide commercially meaningful recommendations.
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital.
  • Evaluate key financial ratios including profitability, liquidity, debtor and creditor turnover, stock turnover, debt-to-equity, return on investment and fixed asset turnover.

Payroll & Accounting Operations

  • Provide appropriate financial oversight of payroll processing.
  • Review payroll-related calculations, fringe benefits and allowances where required.
  • Ensure appropriate accounting treatment of payroll transactions.
  • Support and guide junior accounting employees on accounting standards, processes and technical queries.

Working Capital & Commercial Finance

  • Monitor debtors, creditors, inventory and working-capital performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cash flow, financial efficiency and profitability.
  • Analyse customer and supplier accounts and resolve material discrepancies.
  • Support management in evaluating commercial and financial decisions.

Audit

  • Coordinate financial information required for external audit.
  • Prepare appropriate schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise with external auditors and address audit queries.
  • Assist management with implementing audit recommendations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant – CA(SA).
  • Current or eligible registration with SAICA.
  • Completed SAICA training contract/articles.
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree and postgraduate accounting qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of South African accounting, taxation and statutory requirements.
  • Strong financial reporting and management accounting experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ideally 3–5+ years’ post-articles experience; an exceptional newly qualified CA(SA) may also be considered.
  • Commercial/industry experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience within automotive, fuel, logistics, transport, distribution, manufacturing or a similarly operational environment would be advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Systems & Technical Knowledge

  • Experience with accounting/ERP systems such as Xero, Sage/Pastel or similar.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and general MS Office capability.
  • Experience with SARS eFiling and EasyFile advantageous.
  • Sound understanding of VAT, taxation, payroll-related accounting, fixed assets, inventory and financial ratios.

Key Responsibilities

HR Business Partnering

  • Act as the first point of contact for local office employees and General Managers on HR-related matters.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, across multiple disciplines including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, and HR operations.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of South African labour legislation.
  • Experience working within a multinational environment, including supporting regional HR initiatives and projects.
  • Exposure to HRIS platforms, HR analytics and reporting tools.
  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent (Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration or a related field); HR professional certification preferred.

Procurement Manager

Overview

Our client is a well-established South African manufacturer serving the mining, road construction and trenching industries, producing precision-engineered components such as carbide cutting picks, drill bits, drill steels, drill tubes and spinning adaptors. The business operates an end-to-end manufacturing facility with a strong emphasis on precision, quality, ISO 9001:2015 standards, supplier performance and continuous improvement.

We’re looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to lead the procurement function — managing the sourcing, purchasing, contracting and supplier-performance cycle in line with approved procedures, financial controls and budgets. The Procurement Manager will be the primary point of contact between the company and its suppliers of goods, services and capital items, accountable for cost-effective, quality-assured and timely procurement that supports manufacturing output.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage purchases and costs in accordance with financial controls, procurement procedures, approved budgets and management instructions.
  • Cultivate and maintain good working relationships with suppliers, service providers and contractors.
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
  • Review selected strategic suppliers/service providers on their supply, delivery and pricing in accordance with prescribed procurement procedures.
  • Negotiate costs and best pricing for purchases made, while ensuring quality of goods and services procured.
  • Maintain and update the Approved Suppliers List (ASL), including certification/accreditation, delivery times and potential future development.
  • Work with all Heads of Department to prioritise procurement of supplies effectively and timeously against the production plan.
  • Represent the company and annually review suppliers’ agreements or contracts to ensure compliance with contracts, terms of supply and company policies.
  • Develop and implement purchase and contract management instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the development and specification of equipment, products or substitute materials, in conjunction with engineering and production.
  • Maintain the integrity of the financial/ERP accounting system in terms of pricing, costing and supplier terms.
  • Ensure the storeroom is sufficiently stocked with minimum stock levels as agreed, with replenishment planned and ordered in good time.
  • Prepare, issue and adjudicate Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for both local and international supply.
  • Manage import and export logistics, customs clearance (SARS), foreign-exchange exposure and cross-border supplier compliance, including inbound/outbound documentation, certificates of origin and SADC/EU/Asia origin rules.
  • Evaluate quotations on price, quality, BBBEE, lead-time and total cost of ownership, recommending awards within delegated authority.
  • Compile and submit weekly and monthly procurement reports covering spend, cost-savings, supplier performance, open POs and aged creditors.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the procurement function through cost-savings initiatives, supplier-development programmes and process automation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ procurement experience; engineering/manufacturing industry experience preferred, though all suitably qualified candidates will be considered.
  • Appointment made in line with the client’s BBBEE / Employment Equity objectives.
