Overview

Our client, an established manufacturer of precision cutting and drilling equipment for the mining, road construction and trenching industries, is looking for a Cost Accountant to take ownership of product costing, inventory valuation, manufacturing cost analysis and related financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain standard costing structures for raw materials, components, labour and overheads
• Review and update Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings and master data for costing integrity
• Prepare monthly cost accounting reports, including variance and gross margin analysis
• Analyse material usage, labour recovery, overhead absorption, scrap and production variances
• Ensure accuracy of inventory valuation, including cycle counts and stock counts
• Support month-end close, budgeting and forecasting processes
• Partner with Production, Procurement and Engineering on costing and margin decisions
• Support internal/external audits and drive continuous improvement in costing and reporting

Minimum Requirements

• CIMA qualified
• Minimum 5 years’ cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• BCom Accounting / Cost & Management Accounting / Finance preferred
• Strong standard costing, BOM, inventory and variance analysis skills
• ERP experience and advanced Excel capability
• Appointment in line with client’s BBBEE / Employment Equity objectives; all suitably qualified candidates will be considered

POSITION SUMMARY

The Junior Inventory Controller / Inventory Clerk will be responsible for tracking, recording, and managing stock levels within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate must have prior experience in manufacturing inventory control and working knowledge of the Evolution accounting system.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an inventory control role within the manufacturing industry (non-negotiable)
• Experience working on the Evolution accounting system (non-negotiable)
• Basic understanding of Bill of Materials (BOMs)
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
• Good understanding of stock control procedures and documentation
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Grade 12 (relevant tertiary qualification advantageous)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receive, count, and verify incoming stock against delivery notes and invoices.
• Maintain accurate stock records on Evolution.
• Record inventory movements accurately in the inventory system.
• Assist with stock takes and cycle counts.
• Ensure correct storage, labelling, and organisation of inventory.
• Work closely with procurement, warehouse and operations teams.
• Investigate and report stock discrepancies/variances.
• Issue stock to departments as required and maintain records.
• Generate inventory reports as required by management.

Our client is a well-established South African manufacturer serving the mining, road construction and trenching industries, producing precision-engineered components such as carbide cutting picks, drill bits, drill steels, drill tubes and spinning adaptors. The business operates an end-to-end manufacturing facility with a strong emphasis on precision, quality, ISO 9001:2015 standards, supplier performance and continuous improvement.

We’re looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to lead the procurement function — managing the sourcing, purchasing, contracting and supplier-performance cycle in line with approved procedures, financial controls and budgets. The Procurement Manager will be the primary point of contact between the company and its suppliers of goods, services and capital items, accountable for cost-effective, quality-assured and timely procurement that supports manufacturing output.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage purchases and costs in accordance with financial controls, procurement procedures, approved budgets and management instructions.
• Cultivate and maintain good working relationships with suppliers, service providers and contractors.
• Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
• Review selected strategic suppliers/service providers on their supply, delivery and pricing in accordance with prescribed procurement procedures.
• Negotiate costs and best pricing for purchases made, while ensuring quality of goods and services procured.
• Maintain and update the Approved Suppliers List (ASL), including certification/accreditation, delivery times and potential future development.
• Work with all Heads of Department to prioritise procurement of supplies effectively and timeously against the production plan.
• Represent the company and annually review suppliers’ agreements or contracts to ensure compliance with contracts, terms of supply and company policies.
• Develop and implement purchase and contract management instructions, policies and procedures.
• Participate in the development and specification of equipment, products or substitute materials, in conjunction with engineering and production.
• Maintain the integrity of the financial/ERP accounting system in terms of pricing, costing and supplier terms.
• Ensure the storeroom is sufficiently stocked with minimum stock levels as agreed, with replenishment planned and ordered in good time.
• Prepare, issue and adjudicate Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for both local and international supply.
• Manage import and export logistics, customs clearance (SARS), foreign-exchange exposure and cross-border supplier compliance, including inbound/outbound documentation, certificates of origin and SADC/EU/Asia origin rules.
• Evaluate quotations on price, quality, BBBEE, lead-time and total cost of ownership, recommending awards within delegated authority.
• Compile and submit weekly and monthly procurement reports covering spend, cost-savings, supplier performance, open POs and aged creditors.
• Drive continuous improvement of the procurement function through cost-savings initiatives, supplier-development programmes and process automation.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ procurement experience; engineering/manufacturing industry experience preferred, though all suitably qualified candidates will be considered.
• Appointment made in line with the client’s BBBEE / Employment Equity objectives.
