What This Role Covers
Financial Controllers are typically responsible for:
- Month-end and year-end close, and management accounts
- Financial controls, reconciliations and audit preparation
- Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Cash flow, debtors and creditors management
- Tax and statutory compliance
- Supervising and developing the accounting team
What We Assess
Strong Financial Controllers combine technical accuracy with the confidence to challenge the business. We assess hands-on reporting and close experience, systems knowledge (for example Sage, Pastel, Xero or larger ERP systems), controls and audit track record, experience in your sector (costing matters in manufacturing, for example), and the ability to lead a small team — alongside qualifications such as CA(SA), CIMA or a BCom.
